Biofuels plant proposed for Washington County

Hampton Biofuels, a New York-based startup company, recently purchased a 96-acre property along the Vermont border. Hoping to capitalize on the booming biofuel industry, the company wants to transform the million-dollar plot of land, located along Golf Course Road in Hampton, into the Capital Region’s first biodiesel plant.

If the project is approved by the town’s planning board, Hampton Biofuels could become the dominant producer and supplier of biodiesel in Upstate New York and New England.
