Federal ruling suspends bioech alfalfa planting A federal judge recently ruled that farmers must stop planting roundup-ready alfalfa until the USDA completes an environmental impact statement. The ruling makes permanent a temporary order announced in March. This is the first time a federal court has halted planting of a commercial crop.
