Humane Society continues push for slaughter ban

The Humane Society of the United States continues to call on Congress to pass legislation that would permanently ban horse slaughter and the export of horses for slaughter.

New York Farm Bureau strongly opposes efforts to prohibit equine processing as banning horses from slaughter infringes on producers’ rights to manage livestock according to commonly accepted agricultural practices and sets a dangerous precedent for banning other foods for reasons other than food safety or public health.

Visit the e-lobby section of the NYFB Web site to send your own letter to Congress voicing your opposition to this precedentsetting proposal.
