N.Y. Farm Bureau announces legal referral program

New York Farm Bureau is pleased to announce the implementation of a Legal Service Plan for New York Farm Bureau members. The program is designed to provide assistance to members who have legal questions or concerns and are looking for an attorney.

Members will be referred to one or more attorneys, depending on the coverage in your area, who specialize in the area of law that matches your needs.

If you do hire an attorney through the Legal Service Plan, you will be entitled to two hours of free consultation over the course of one year. The attorney will be able to assist you and answer any questions you may have pertaining to your case.

The following are a few questions frequently asked by members:

I need an attorney. Who do I call? Simply call New York Farm Bureau’s toll free number, (800) 342-4143 and ask for Lisa or the Department of Legal Affairs.

What information do I need when calling the attorney I am referred to? The only information you will need is your membership number.

Who pays the attorney’s fees? The member pays all fees due and owing the attorney for services rendered.

Is my family covered? Yes, as long as you are a member in good standing with New York Farm Bureau.

What information do I need when calling for a referral? The only information you will need when calling the Department of Legal Affairs is your name and membership number.

What is the cost to me? There is no cost for the referral service.

What this program is not. This program is not a substitute for asking prospective attorneys about their qualifications, experience and their approach to clients.

For a full description of the program, please contact Lisa Avella in the Legal Affairs Dept. at (800) 342-4143 or lavella@nyfb.org
