Orange County eligible for disaster relief

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Agriculture Department in late June declared New York’s Orange County a primary disaster area as a result of April 16 flooding, a move that will make farmers eligible for low-interest emergency loans.

The USDA’s Farm Service Agency said farmers have eight months to apply for emergency loans to help cover part of the financial loss of their crops.
