Milk Vending Machine Resource Compilation Now Available

With the movement to install milk vending machines in schools, dorms, cafeterias and many other locations…the question arises “How ?”  Many have accomplished installations through a good relationship with their school’s Food Service Director, or as members of the School Board they have been able to facilitate the process.  Many FFA Chapters have achieved success through installation as well as the “profits” from the sale of milk.  The beneficiaries include one and all as we make available healthy food choices that enhance much more than our dairy industry.

In December at the business meeting of the Promotion & Education Committee many counties brought up the issue of needing more information, and the Committee responded immediately!  Many county Farm Bureaus and individuals have embarked on projects to install milk vending machines and the resource packet that has been compiled from a variety of sources that can aid in research efforts.

Perhaps a milk handler will supply the machine free of charge, or at a minimum cost.  Perhaps the American Dairy Association can place a vending machine in your area. Perhaps the profits from one vending machine will allow the recipient to place the next.  Perhaps you can move the vending machine to your county fair to supply milk, profit and negate the need for a person to distribute.  The possibilities are endless!

The collection of information is available to any Farm Bureau member who may be interested.  There is a nominal charge for non-members.  To request a copy just call New York Farm Bureau at 1-800-342-4143.
