"Ag Tags" raised over $7000 in first year In the first year of sales, more than $7,200 was raised for the Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program from the sale of "ag tags." These distinctive license plates demonstrate your commitment to agriculture and provides funding to help teach our youth about New York’s agricultural industry. Ag in the Classroom provides agriculture awareness materials for the 3.6 million school-aged youth in New York State. The mission of AITC is to promote an understanding and appreciation for agriculture and the food and fiber system by infusing those topics into the school curriculum. AITC is a partnership between New York’s Department of Agriculture and Markets, Education Department, Farm Bureau, and Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, including Cornell Cooperative Extension. Ag in the Classroom will receive $25 from each "I Love New York Agriculture" custom license plate purchased. "Ag tags" are available through your local motor vehicle office or online at www.nysdmv.com/org.htm. n |
