The New York State Consumer Protection Board(CPB) launched a serious
of children's videos on February 26, 2009 about the importance of
saving for young New Yorkers during there difficult economic times.

The event was a summit, hosted by New York Ag in the Classroom to
explore the materials available and needed to compile and develop
high quality, real-world, factual educational materials focused on
animal agriculture.

Pilot Project Harvests the Crop! October 08
An idea is
planted, germinates and the harvest is bountiful!
The “Feed the Hungry” Project, piloted by one Schoharie Elementary
School third grade class in
2007 expanded to ALL third grades in the 2008 school year.
New York State Fair Volunteers Help Promote Agriculture
Fairgoers learned about NYFB and our agriculture system. Thanks to
generous volunteers at this year's state fair.

Ag Literacy Week - To celebrate National Ag
Week (March 16 & 20, 2009),
volunteers throughout New York visited classrooms to read a book
with an agricultural theme and talk to students about agriculture.
The book is then donated to the school library.

Be Aware of Agriculture 2009
- The “Be Aware of New York Agriculture” Contest is a great way to
expose students to agriculture and the food system and to meet the
New York State Learning Standards in your classroom. Students can
learn more about where the food comes from and why it is important
that they understand and appreciate agriculture in New York State.
The contest is divided by grade level categories and statewide
winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 2
honorable mentions) are selected for each grade level.

Adopt a Calf Project -
School classes in New York City and the City of Syracuse adopted a
dairy calf and receive regular reports on the calf's progress with
photos.

collection are available to purchase for $275, or can be loaned to
your school. Find more information about the barns, or locate the
