Job Title: Manager, Membership Development and Engagement

Summary

The Manager, Membership Development and Engagement is responsible for designing and implementing the NYFB (New York Farm Bureau) membership growth and retention strategy that aligns with NYFB’s strategic objectives, as well as day-to-day management of the NYFB’s member engagement. He/she will serve as the liaison for the Membership Committee to build a strong membership culture within the Association; works closely with the Director of Member Advocacy and CEO to achieve the goal of NYFB membership while delivering and ensuring the highest level of service to our members.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned

● Leads the association’s overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage membership. This includes creating a plan for membership retention and growth. Also work on developing strategies and programs to stimulate member engagement.

● Oversight of all membership data, tracking and reporting.

● Initiate and manage strategic partnerships with other auxiliary-related associations and groups to help recruitment and retention of membership; including, but not limited to, attendance at these types of conferences to represent the association.

● Functions as the staff membership liaison to the County Farm Bureau Relations and Development team.

● Prior experience and knowledge of association management and not for profit organizations

● Demonstrated experience in growing membership/customers and strengthening membership/customer retention, Self-motivated and administratively self-maintaining

● Knowledge of consultative sales techniques and demonstrated ability to close business deals

● Demonstrate problem solving skills with stakeholders, anticipate needs, determine priorities, and meet deadlines.

● Organized with effective time management skills

● Demonstrable capability for strategic thinking and general business understanding

Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.

● Experience with database management and Graphic Design.

● An understanding of the agricultural industry preferred

● Strong interpersonal  and oral and written communication skills and commitment to high level of customer service

●. Ability to travel to represent NYFB at professional conferences, leadership meetings, and in the normal course of membership development activities. (25%)

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from four-year college; and at least 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Association membership development experience required.  

 

Job Title: Director of Insurance Services

Reports To:  Chief Executive Officer

Salary: $85,000-100,000

Summary

The Director of Insurance position is responsible for driving insurance revenue while developing a team to provide best in class customer service to members, insurance clients, and agents for the NYFB Safety Group 486. The Director of Insurance will also lead the evaluation and development of existing and new lines of insurance business aligned with the strategic objectives of the organization.   

Team Development and Professional Growth

·        Identify human resource needs, including the skills, talents, and experience level of team members. 

·        Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring department personnel, team member training and performance evaluations, and coordination of work schedules. 

·        Oversee professional development plans for self and team members[ED1] [ED2] .

·        Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of training programs, adjusting as necessary, to ensure learning and quality team member retention.

·        Oversees sales activities two part-time sales personnel.  Coordinates with other managers to assure sales activities are properly balanced with other job duties.

Customer Service

·        Develop, document, and audit agency operating procedures, service standards, and service expectations. 

·        Build and maintain customer relationships with agents and clients by providing excellent customer service.

·        Establish strong relationships with top safety group members.

·        Establish the standard of member, client, and agent service, and promote compliance with brokerage and group service standards and expectations.

Insurance Operations and Brokerage Performance

·        Analyze brokerage performance and draw up action plans for performance improvement.

·        Ensure all staff exercise good time management.

·        Adhere to all brokerage and group regulations, guidelines, and policies, and ensure staff does the same.

·        Research current industry/market trends and use knowledge for business improvement.

·        Operational strategizing by formulating processes and documentation on the optimum use of brokerage and group resources. 

·        Contribute to the achievement of budgeted growth objectives and profitability by analyzing data and developing and executing plans to maximize growth and mitigate negative impacts.

·        Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to develop and execute effective marketing plans.   

·        Design and implement systems and procedures to reflect operational improvements and meet financial and performance goals.

·        Develop, document, and audit agency operating procedures, service standards and service expectations. 

·        Set monthly brokerage goals and measure results vs. goals.

·        Identify performance improvement areas and develop action plans for improving brokerage and group performance.

·        Communicate agency performance levels including areas of concern to management.

·        Manage overall brokerage and group operations to achieve company goals and objectives.

Development

·        Research and investigate potential new lines of insurance business.

·        Develop improvement and expansion initiatives based on current market trends, target customer needs, competition, and NYFB capabilities and objectives.

·        Conduct appropriate due diligence in consultation with appropriate experts regarding new lines of insurance business and develop detailed business plans and provide to CEO.

·        Execute and test action plans to add new lines of insurance business in coordination with CEO.

Qualifications

o   Brokerage management and sales development planning experience.

o   6+ years of P&C market experience. You have worked with independent agencies in the past and understand agents' consideration when writing business.

o   Knowledge of the P&C market, including workers compensation. You are familiar with different insurance products and know how to deliver value proposition to insurance agents.

o   Proven sales performance. You are highly driven and self-motivated.

o   Excellent relationship-building skills. You can build effective relationships, both internally and externally, and navigate complex conversations.

·       Ownership mindset. You demonstrate drive, initiative, energy, and a sense of urgency.

Education/Experience

·        Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and six+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability

·        Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability

·        Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

·        Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

·        To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook.
