A conversation with the new CALS dean
Here is your first opportunity to hear directly from the next dean of Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), Benjamin Houlton. The University made the announcement this month that Houlton will succeed Kathryn Boor, who will become dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for graduate education Oct. 1. Houlton currently serves as director of the John Muir Institute of the Environment and professor of global environmental studies at the University of California, Davis.
NYFB President David Fisher spoke virtually with Houlton. They discussed his background, his research at UC Davis as well as his hopes for CALS. The new dean also spoke about the important role production agriculture plays in our food supply and environmental sustainability.
